Dr. T.C. Chang, 49 yrs of age, is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist,
who practises at Thomson Medical Centre, the largest private women’s hospital in
Singapore. He is also the Head of the Fetal Assessment Unit (Centre for Prenatal
Diagnosis and Obstetric Ultrasound) at Thomson Medical Centre. Dr. Chang has
been in medical practise since 1985, the last 21 years as a specialist in
Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
After finishing his secondary school at Brighton College, a boarding school in
the UK, Dr. Chang started his undergraduate medical student days at the
prestigious Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1980. He
graduated in 1985 and worked in various London teaching hospitals, for 7 years,
between 1985 and 1993. In 1990, he successfully passed double examinations in O
& G and Surgery and was made a Member of the Royal College of O & G, UK and
Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow, UK. Between 1991 and 1993, he
did obstetric ultrasound research at University College Hospital, London, which
led to his submission of a Doctorate (MD) thesis on "Serial ultrasound
Assessment of the Growth Restricted Fetus". He was awarded the MD by the
University of London, following the successful defence of his thesis in April
1994.
Dr. Chang has been working in Singapore since 1994 at the KK Women’s Hospital
from (1994-1998) and in Thomson Medical Centre since 1998.
He was made a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Department of Maternal
Fetal Medicine, KK Hospital in 1997 and has been a visiting Consultant to that
Department since then. Since 1998, he has been the Head of the Fetal Assessment
Unit (Centre for Prenatal Diagnosis and Obstetric Ultrasound) at Thomson Medical
Centre. In 2005, Dr Chang spent time as an Associate Professor in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and worked as a
Consultant in National Women's Health, Auckland City Hospital. Between 2007 and
2009, Dr Chang was the President of the College of Obstetricians and
Gynaecologists, Singapore.
His interests are in the management of high risk pregnancies, ultrasound
assessment of the at-risk fetus, invasive prenatal diagnostic procedures and
